- Jones played an important role in the 2023/24 Sky Bet League One campaign, helping the club defy the odds and finish comfortably in mid-table
Jordan Jones has returned to Wigan Athletic on a short-term contract, subject to EFL approval.
Jones, (29), has re-joined Latics ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One opener against Charlton Athletic, bolstering Latics’ wide options following unfortunate injuries to several forward players in recent weeks.
The experienced winger initially arrived at the Brick Community Stadium in the summer of 2021 and was a member of the club’s Sky Bet League One title-winning squad in his debut season.
Loans in Scotland with St Mirren and Kilmarnock preceded a memorable 2023/24 campaign for Jones who reignited his Latics career under Shaun Maloney helping the club defy the odds and finish comfortably in mid-table despite starting the season with an eight-point deduction.
Jones made 34 appearances across all four competitions, scoring three goals, and being memorably nominated for the Sky Bet League One player of the month for November. The 29-year-old was extremely popular amongst his teammates, staff and supporters, and his temporary return will come much to the delight of everyone associated with Wigan Athletic.
Jones will wear the number 44 and will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s home opener against Charlton Athletic.
