Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been named the 2023/24 Premier League Manager of the Season.
Having made history with City after leading the club to a record fourth successive Premier League title – his sixth since moving to Manchester in 2016.
It’s all the more remarkable as the first time in English top-flight history that a club has won the league four years in a row.
In doing so, Guardiola beat out competition from Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola to receive the most votes from a penal of fans, journalists, and former professionals.
After another high octane finish saw City go unbeaten for the final 23 games of the season – including the last nine wins in a row – as they held off the challenge of both Arsenal and Liverpool to secure the record breaking fourth title in a row after a 3-1 win over West Ham on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.
City were dominant once again again at Fortress Etihad where they last lost at home in November 2022.
Guardiola said: “It’s an honour to have been chosen by the Premier League as the Manager of the Season.
“This award reflects the hard work and excellence of the people at the Club in all departments.
“I am so proud to be manager of this group of players and to work alongside the brilliant coaches and support staff every day.
“Winning four titles in a row is one of the proudest achievements of my career.
“This is the toughest league in the world and our competitors have played some incredible football.”
Director of Football Txiki Begiristain added: “Everyone at City is delighted for Pep and this latest recognition of his achievements.
“As Pep is always quick to point out, our history making success is a team effort and would not be possible without the tireless work of our players, coaches and backroom staff.
“However, Pep’s inspirational leadership and drive to succeed has made us a beautiful team to watch and seen us once again come out on top in the toughest league in the world.
“He has taken the Club to the summit of the game and everyone connected with Manchester City should be very proud that he represents us.”
