CURZON ASHTON 0, SPENNYMOOR TOWN 3
Curzon Ashton were well beaten by Spennymoor Town at a quiet Tameside Stadium in a pivotal clash in the Vanarama National League North play-off chase.
The game got off in the worst possible fashion for Craig Mahon’s side as Finley Shrimpton finished off a lovely counterattack to put The Moors ahead in the fourth minute. That was a sign for things to come for the half as Spennymoor continued to dominate the play.
The visitors doubled their lead just after the half hour mark thanks to a lovely finish from Corey McKeown. Cameron Mason had no chance in goal for The Nash as they fell two goals behind.
The Nash had very little to show for in the first half with Mahon’s players struggling to create any real chances.
Spennymoor continued their dominance in the game and quickly they added a third to their tally. A miscommunication at the back between Devon Matthews and Mason resulted in an easy goal for Rob Ramshaw seven minutes after the restart.
Throughout the second half, Curzon failed to create any kind of chance with Adam Barton having a tame header saved comfortably.
Marcel Lewis’ introduction sparked a little life into The Nash, but it wasn’t enough to produce a fightback.
Th defeat put a spanner in The Nash’s play-off push dropping them from seventh to eighth, Spennymoor find themselves up to 12th in the table.
