Durham forward Poppy Pritchard has signed for Manchester City Women.
Prichard, 18, recently established herself in the Championship side and came on as a second half substitute in City’s recent FA Cup game played at Maiden Castle in which the Blues ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.
She hit a hat trick against Manchester United’s Under 21s in November 2023.
And she also scored within 15 minutes of her debut for England’s Under-19s in September last year as the Young Lionesses beat Denmark 5-0.
But in a squad filled with talented and experienced attacking players Pritchard may have to bide her time to break into the first team.
Pritchard said: “I’m just really excited. It’s a great opportunity for a young player like me, so I just can’t wait to get started,” Pritchard said of the move.
“I think the opportunities for a player my age to be playing in and around the best players in the world, is just such a great chance and a real good challenge for me.
“The players here are the best, so learning from them will be a great opportunity and experience.”
Head coach Gareth Taylor added: “Poppy is a very exciting young player. She is a specialist centre-forward with a profile of scoring goals and am looking forward to seeing what she can do.”
