Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, and Erling Haaland have won another treble of awards at the 2023 BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.
After the Club’s Treble-winning campaign, the most successful season in the club’s history, City were named Team of the Year 2023.
And City boss Pep Guardola was named Coach of the Year while Norwegian star striker Erling Haaland completed the hat trick with World Sport Star 2023.
Following a stellar award-filled 2022/23 season which ended with City winning a third successive Premier League crown, City lifted the FA Cup in the first ever all-Manchester final, and finally secured the Treble by beating Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Istanbul.
They followed that up with the UEFA Super Cup in August by beating Sevilla.
And they have the chance to become the first English side to win five trophies in one year if they lift the FIFA World Club Cup this weekend in Saudi Arabia.
Manchester City captain Kyle Walker said: “This is such a special prize to win.
“Everyone knows how important the BBC Sports awards are so to be named Team of the Year means a lot to us all at Manchester City.
“What we have done in 2023 is something none of us will ever forget and this award is another special way to recognise what we achieved.
“We are so proud of everything we have achieved together. I want to thank everyone connected to Manchester City, too, because without them none of what we have achieved would have been possible.”
And City coach Guardiola added: “It is such a huge honour to have won this award.
“Like all coaches in every sport, the reason we are recognised is because we won so much as a team.
The players, the coaches, the physios, the staff, it is thanks to all of them that I am presented with this award.
“What the players achieved on the pitch last season, this incredible Treble, was a huge success for everyone at the Club and especially for our fans.
“I want to thank everyone for what they did to help us achieve what we did this year.”
Haaland said: “This is another huge honour for me and I am very proud to have been named the BBC World Sport Star of the Year.
“I am especially grateful to have been voted ahead of an incredible group of athletes who are all legends in their individual sports.
“I would like to thank all my teammates, as well as Pep Guardiola and the City coaching staff as without all of them I wouldn’t have been able to score the number of goals I have.
“To be recognised in this way by everyone who enjoys sport is a very special feeling and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
“As a club Manchester City created some incredible memories last season, but now we want to do the same again this year.”
