Non-league Curzon Ashton have been handed a great opportunity to reach the second round of the Emirates FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
The Nash were drawn at home to Aveley or Barnet in this afternoon’s draw when they were the first tie to be picked out. If they win, they will collect £41,000 in prize money, a huge sum for a club like them.
Aveley are an Essex-based team from National League South, the same tier of the pyramid as Curzon, while Barnet are in National League.
Last season, Curzon reached the first round when they took League One Cambridge United to a replay which they lost on penalties.
Elsewhere, there were mixed fortunes for other Greater Manchester clubs in the draw.
Stockport County and Bolton Wanderers have both home ties against non-league opponents, Worksop Town and Solihull Moors respectively.
However, Oldham Athletic, Wigan Athletic and Salford City must all hit the road.
Oldham head to South Wales to play Newport County, Wigan are off to Devon and Exeter while Salford have a tough gig at Peterborough United.
Ties are to be played between Friday, November 3 and Monday, November 6.
