The running order for the historic 2022/23 Emirates FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United has been confirmed by The Football Association (The FA).
The competition’s 142nd final on Saturday, June 3 at Wembley Stadium connected by EE, and it will be broadcast live in the UK on ITV, ITVX, UTV, STV, STV Player, BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 3pm.
Pre-match
The pre-match show will kick-off with performances from the Massed Bands of the Royal Corps of Army Music and the BBC Radio 1 DJ, producer, and host of Radio 1’s Soundsystem Party and 1Xtra’s Rave Show, Jeremiah Asiamah.
The military band’s routine will include an evolution of the final’s traditional pre-match hymn, Abide with Me, and also contribute towards Jeremiah’s bespoke DJ set that will feature Manchester City and Manchester United’s respective club anthems of Blue Moon and This is the One.
The final’s match ball, the Mitre Ultimax Pro Emirates FA Cup Football, will be walked out by the legendary former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and iconic former Manchester City forward Mike Summerbee.
The FA’s President, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, will lead the traditional presentation party, which will also include the national governing body’s Chair, Debbie Hewitt MBE; Emirates Airline’s President, Sir Tim Clark KBE; and The FA Challenge Cup Committee’s Chair, Neil Bausor, who will all be presented to the teams.
The national anthem will be performed by the international soloist soprano Jasmine Faulkner, and a British Sign Language interpreter will provide translations of this and other moments during the Final.
Half-time
An inspirational young boy, Edward Simpson, is attempting to raise £100,000 for brain tumor research following his own diagnosis by taking 100 penalty kicks in 100 different locations. Edward also happens to be an avid fan of Manchester United, and he will have an opportunity to take one at the home of English football in its 100th year against the club’s mascot Fred the Red.
Jeremiah Asiamah will also continue his DJ performance with a further live set during the interval.
Post-match
The Golden Ball Award in partnership with Mitre will be presented to the competition’s overall top scorer following the final whistle. Wrexham’s Paul Mullin is leading the latest standings with nine goals, and he will be in attendance at the final, with Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez his closest rival for the award on five goals currently.
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales will also present the winning club with the competition’s famous trophy in the Royal Box, and its engraving will then be completed,
