Erling Haaland has been named Premier League Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season after a record season with Manchester City.
Haaland, 22, has become the first player to win both awards in the same campaign following a record breaking first season with Manchester City in the Premier League in which he broke a 29-year record for most goals scored.
He beat competition from teammate Kevin de Bruyne, plus Harry Kane, Martin Odegaard, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Kieran Trippier to claim the coveted Player of the Season award and it later also emerged that he had also won the Young Player of the Season award too.
The accolade comes after the Norwegian landed the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year award for the 2022/23 season having scored 36 goals in the Premier League from a total of 52 goals in all competitions this term with one league game to go.
And with the FA Cup final and Champions League final to come after that Haaland will be hoping to extend his goals tally still further.
With three games to go Haaland might not reach the 60 goals mark for the season but he will be looking for a strong finish as the Blues chase a historic Treble.
Haaland said: “I am honoured to have become the first player to win both awards in the same season – thank you to everyone who voted for me.
“It has been an incredible first season in the Premier League and lifting the trophy last weekend in front of our fans at the Etihad was a very special moment for me.
“These awards would not have been possible without my amazing teammates, the manager and all of the staff at the club who help me perform on the pitch.
“Now we have two more finals to go and we want to finish the season strong.”
