Manchester City pair Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne have landed two Premier League player accolades as voted by their peers.
Foden, 21, was named Premier League Young Player of the Year for the second consecutive year on the spin while De Bruyne, 30, has been named Premier League Player of the Season for the second time.
The news comes on the eve of the climax of the 2021/22 season with Manchester City’s battle to retain their Premier League title for the second time going down to the final day of the season at home to Aston Villa.
Both players have registered impressive stats so far this season with De Bruyne leading the way with 19 goals and 13 assists in all competitions this term – his highest scoring season for the Blues – while Foden has 14 strikes and 11 assists.
Competition was stiff for the award with the shortlist for the senior award including Joao Cancelo, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrod Bowen, Bukayo Saka, Mo Salah, Son Heung-min, and James Ward-Prowse.
Foden had to compete with Alexander-Arnold, Conor Gallagher, Tyrick Mitchell, Mason Mount, Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka.
Both players were proud of their awards, voted for by their peers.
De Bruyne said: “To win this award for a second time is an achievement that I am really proud of.
“There is so much quality in the Premier League and it is a pleasure to be nominated with so many other great players who have had incredible seasons for their clubs.
“I think my performances this season have been good and I am happy that I have been able to contribute with goals and assists throughout the season.
“Thank you to all of the staff, coaches and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible.”
Foden added: “I am very proud to have won this award for a second season in a row. There are so many talented young players in the Premier League and it is a real honour to win it again.
“I have been really happy with my performances this season and it has been great to contribute to this team in what will hopefully be another successful year for us all.
“To be nominated alongside so many great players is an honour as they have all had great seasons for their clubs. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to my development this season.”
