Filippa Angeldahl became the latest player to sign for Manchester City on the eve of the new Women’s Super League season.
Angeldahl, 24, has signed a two-year deal with the option of a further deal – subject to international clearance – as the transfer window closed.
The midfielder spent her entire career in Sweden so far, playing for Vaksala SK, IK Sirius, AIK, Hammarby – where she was awarded the Damallsvenskan Most Valuable Player accolade in 2017 – Linköpings FC, Kopparbergs/Goteborg FC, and BK Hacken.
She featured for Linköpings FC against Manchester City in the Champions League in 2018 and also for Goteborg last season before the club merged with BK Hacken last winter before helping the club lift the Swedish Cup in May.
She has also played international football for Sweden since 2018, winning 15 caps including 6 at the recent Olympic Games in Tokyo where she helped the team to a silver medal finish after playing 75 minutes against Canada.
Speaking about her move, she said: “I am very excited to join Manchester City. It’s a huge club and I can’t wait to start working with the team.
“For me, I feel like now is the right moment to take the next step in my career and I feel like City are the best choice for me to do that.
“As a player, I always want to win and that is why I chose this Club as they match my ambitions.”
Head Coach Gareth Taylor added: “We’re delighted to have added Filippa to our squad ahead of the start of the new league campaign – she is a talented player and will fit into our style of play well.
“We were impressed by her when she played against us in the Champions League last season and we’re now excited to work with her over the next few years.”
