Romelu Lukaku departs for Inter Milan
Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku signed for Inter Milan after a mooted move to Juventus fell through.
The Italian club, managed by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, agreed a fee of £74m, meaning United recouped the money they paid to Everton.
They will have to pay the Merseyside club a sell-on fee but are believed to have inserted a similar clause into Lukaku’s terms with Inter.
United didn’t manage to replace Lukaku, though, with deals for Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic falling through.
And the Reds will start the new season light in midfield after the departure of Ander Herrera to Paris St Germain.
Scott Carson signs for Manchester City on loan for the season from Derby County
Carson, 33, will be third choice keeper behind Ederson and Claudio Bravo after the departure of young goalkeeper Aro Muric to Nottingham Forest.
Being English, Carson crucially doesn’t count against the 17 foreign players allowed in City’s Premier League squad.
And he becomes City’s final signing in the summer transfer window after Joao Cancelo, Rodri, Angelino, and young goalkeeper Zack Steffen signed.
City also signed 19-year-old Pedro Porro from sister club Girona for a fee of around £10m and will probably send the Spanish youngster out on loan back to La Liga.
Forward Luke Bolton was sent out on loan to Luton Town today.
Leroy Sane ruled out with ACL injury
Manchester City confirmed a serious injury blow when they announced that winger Leroy Sane had sustained damage to his anterior crucial ligament.
The club confirmed that Sane would be receiving attention from a specialist doctor in Manchester before having surgery on his right knee.
City could be without the German, who had been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, for several months while he recovers and the club opted not to replace him prior to the closure of the Premier League transfer window today.
