Captain Peter Clarke is the highest profile of the seven players released by Oldham Athletic.
The central defender, 37, has spent the last three seasons with Latics having joined them from Bury.
Jose Baxter, currently in his second spell at Boundary Park, is also leaving.
Striker Urko Vera, whom arrived in January to wide acclaim having played in La Liga for Athletic Bilbao, is also moving on after failing to make an impact.
Five loan players, including star performers Daniel Iversen and Callum Lang, are returning to their parent clubs so a total of 12 players will be leaving.
Latics are taking up options to extend the stays of midfield pair Johan Branger-Engone and Christopher Missilou.
