Georgia Stanway has become the latest player to sign a contract extension with Manchester City after agreeing a three year deal with the club.
Stanway, 20, has scored 35 goals in 88 appearances for the club since joining in 2015 and will extend her stay at City’s Women’s team until 2022.
The versatile forward can play in a variety of forward roles, central and wide on the flanks.
She has known for her energetic style of play, quick turn of pace and explosive long range goals.
She recently picked up the Continental Cup in this season’s final against Chelsea.
It was her fourth piece of Club silverware since she signed after winning the double in 2016 and adding the 2017 SSE Women’s FA Cup the following year.
Stanway is a successful member of England’s U17 Euros and U20s World Cup teams – winning a bronze medal in 2016 and 2018.
She also made her debut for the senior England team this season, scoring in a 3-0 friendly win over Austria last November.
On signing her contract extension, Stanway told CityTV:
“I’ve been here four years already and I’ve loved every single minute.
“To be here to stay is such a massive achievement and I can’t wait to get going again.
“This is where I feel at home and this is where the majority of my development has happened and how I am the player I am today.
“I’m in the best possible position to move forward and I’m happy here.
“To sign my first contract at 18 was enough, but to be staying for even longer is even better and I’m just looking forward to the future.”
Nick Cushing, Manager of Manchester City women’s team, added:
“We’re delighted that Georgia has signed a new contract and will continue to be an integral part of the City family.
“Georgia has shown her potential as a player, but more importantly she has shown that she has the drive and determination to keep improving.
“We know as long as she keeps working hard, the way she has been, the sky is the limit in terms of her ability.”
