Frankie Bunn has been sacked by Oldham Athletic less than 24 hours after the 6-0 Boxing Day defeat at Carlisle United.

Bunn, who took charge in June following Richie Wellens’ sacking. leaves Latics with the club 12th in Sky Bet League Two having won eight, drawn eight and lost eight of 24 league games.
He has also guided them to the third round of the Emirates FA Cup and a plum tie at Premier League club Fulham.
Mail Online is also reporting two members of Bunn’s backroom team, one of whom is first-team coach Max Wragg, is leaving.
Bunn’s assistant Andy Rhodes was dismissed in October.
In a short three paragraph statement, the club said: “Oldham Athletic Football Club can confirm that the contract of manager Frankie Bunn has been terminated with immediate effect.
“We would like to place on record our thanks to Frankie for all his efforts during his time at Boundary Park.
“Pete Wild will take the first team as caretaker manager and the club will look to appoint a permanent manager as soon as possible.”
