Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has received a call-up to the England Under-21 squad for the first time.
He was selected for England’s final two Euro 2019 qualifiers for next year’s tournament to be held in Italy and San Marino.
England are currently top of their qualifying group and need just a point to qualify for the Euro 2019 finals.
Foden, 18, missed out on the senior squad which was announced yesterday but could instead feature for Aidy Boothroyd’s team in games against Andorra and Scotland.
He joins fellow teenage newcomers Harvey Barnes and Reiss Nelson in the squad after James Maddison and Mason Mount were promoted to the senior squad while Demarai Gray was ruled out with injury.
The Under-21s will host Andorra at Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium on October 11 before travelling to Edinburgh for the final qualifier against Scotland at Tynecastle on October 16.
