Cristiano Ronaldo will face Manchester United after his Juventus side were drawn against the Reds in the group stages of this season’s Champions League.
Ronaldo moved to Juve in the summer for over £99m after nine seasons with Real Madrid. He was with United between 2003 and 2009, winning the Champions League in Moscow in his last game for the Reds.
The Portuguese forward remains goalless in two league games for Juve so far as he finds his feet in Serie A following his groundbreaking move from Spain after winning three Champions Leagues in a row under Zinedine Zidane’s reign at the Bernabeu.
The 33-year-old is unbeaten in three games for Real against United – scoring twice in two Champions League games against United in 2013 but drew a blank after a late cameo appearance off the bench in last season’s European Super Cup.
United will also face Valencia and Young Boys who were drawn as the other teams in Group H.
Premier League champions Manchester City will face Shakhtar Donetsk again in Group F, and will visit Lyon and Hoffenheim for the first time in a competitive game.
Of the Premier League’s other representatives, Tottenham have a daunting games against Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven, and Inter Milan in Group B while Liverpool face tough games against Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli. and Red Star Belgrade in Group C.
Defending champions Real Madrid have been drawn against Roma, CSKA Moscow, and Viktoria Plzen.
