Manchester United will entertain Derby County while Manchester City will travel to Oxford United after the third round draw of the Carabao Cup was made.
The draw brings Frank Lampard – now a manager in his own right, into direct opposition with his former boss at Chelsea when he brings his Championship team to Old Trafford.
There will be extra spice in the contest after the Chelsea legend spent some time at Manchester City in 2014/15 prior to a move across the Atlantic to New York City FC.
United will host the Rams after entertaining Wolves at Old Trafford and will travel to the London Stadium to face West Ham afterwards.
Holders Manchester City face a trip down to Oxfordshire to play League One Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium either side of a trip to Cardiff and a home game against Brighton at the end of September.
Anthony Martial in negotiations for a new Manchester United contract
Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is reportedly in negotiations with the club about a new five year contract.
Martial is one of several Reds players with just one year left on his current contract and is regarded by United chief executive Ed Woodward as an important asset to the club going forward.
United boss Jose Mourinho appears not to share Woodward’s assessment and only used the 22-year-old sparingly and fined the striker for leaving the Reds’ pre-season tour of the United States this summer to attend the birth of his second child and not rejoining the squad for the final two games.
