Manchester City celebrated their Premier League win with younger football supporters at the club’s Man City Kids Fan Zone in Manchester last weekend.
City launched a new app – Man City Kids – aimed at younger supporters between the age of 6 and 12 and their families. It’s available in the Apple iOS and Google Play stores as well as directly on the official Manchester City website at www.mancity.com/kids.
Called Man City Kids, the app and website is a safe place for young football fans to enjoy free and exclusive behind the scenes video content, games, and football themed quizzes from Manchester City.
The App is also the home of Junior Cityzens, a free membership scheme for younger fans where supporters can win exclusive prizes such as the chance to meet City players, be a mascot or attend a sleepover at the Manchester City Football Academy.
The launch coincided with a series of events on Saturday and Sunday in just outside the National Football Museum in Manchester city centre where young fans could take part in inflatable challenges and have a go at presenting alongside Manchester City bloggers in the Man City kids studio.
The Man City Kids App is free and doesn’t include in-app purchases and parents can even limit the app’s usage through use of an in-app timer on tablets.
It’s possible to download the videos, which have been edited to appeal to younger fans, for later offline viewing although the download quality can vary.
A lot of the content is also available on the club’s official Youtube channel but the app provides an ad free experience which parents may value.
The app also includes content relating to City’s youth and women’s teams and while there are no in-app purchases some of the items on offer on the app require a (free) Junior Citizens sign-in to access.
