England Under 20 goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck has signed her first professional contract with Manchester City’s women’s team.
Roebuck first joined City from Sheffield United in 2016 and has gone on to make 12 appearances for the club, including her UEFA Women’s Champions league debut in October 2017.
Speaking about her new contract, Roebuck said:
“I am really excited to sign my first professional contract with Manchester City. Over the last year I have learned so much about the game and the support from the players and coaching staff here has been invaluable. It’s a great place to be and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Nick Cushing, manager for the Manchester City women’s team, added:
“Ellie has really improved over the last year and it’s a pleasure to have her at Manchester City. We want good players and good people on our squad and Ellie has shown that she deserves to be part of the team.”
Manchester City launch Same City, Same Passion to promote women’s football
Manchester City had yesterday launched Same City, Same Passion – a club wide campaign focused on promoting women’s football.
Four years ago this week Manchester City’s women’s team was relaunched with a video on social media that football’s unchanging foundations – skills, shared experiences and passion – are intrinsic to the game wherever, whenever and however it is being played.
On the weekend of February 10 and 11, Manchester City will host a dedicated Same City, Same Passion weekend, including activations at both the men’s Premier League fixture v Leicester City on Saturday, 10 February, and the women’s FA WSL fixture v Liverpool Ladies on Sunday, 11 February.
As part of the campaign, Manchester City have merged their men’s and women’s social media channels to provide supporters with 24/7 access to all City’s news and exclusive, behind the scenes content in one place.
