Demi Stokes has signed a new three year contract with Manchester City’s women’s team.
The England left back joined City in January 2015 and has scored four goals in 76 appearances for the club.
During her time so far at in Manchester she has helped City qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League in successive seasons with this season’s Champions League campaign seeing City take on Linkoping of Sweden in the quarter finals in March this year.
She also participated in an undefeated league run to win the 2016 FA WSL title and has won all the domestic cup competition trophies including the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup in 2016 and the SSE Women’s FA Cup for the first time in 2017.
City currently hold all three domestic trophies and remain in contention for another domestic treble this season with an away tie at Brighton in the fourth round of the SSE Women’s FA Cup, a WSL Continental Tyres semi final against Chelsea at Kingsmeadow on Sunday and six wins out of six as they top this season’s WSL1 league table.
Speaking about her contract extension, Stokes said:
“The last three years at Manchester City have been unbelievable. Having the opportunity to train at top class facilities and work with a passionate and knowledgeable coaching team has really helped me grow as a player.
“It’s an amazing team to be a part of, everyone supports each other and I think that’s been an important part of our success. When we play, we play for our teammates and all the Manchester City fans whose support has been invaluable.
“I can’t wait to see what the next three years will bring as we keep challenging on the domestic and European stages.”
Nick Cushing, manager for the Manchester City women’s team, added:
“Demi is an exceptional player with an incredible work ethic. When she gets on the pitch, it doesn’t matter if it’s training or a match, she always gives 100 percent and I’m delighted she will continue to be a part of our team.”
