Keira Walsh is celebrating her first call up to the England Women’s national team for this month’s 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying double header against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Kazakhstan.
The Manchester City Women’s team midfielder joins Interim head coach Mo Marley’s 26-player squad along with Arsenal’s Leah Williamson who also won her first senior call-up.
Both players featured for Marley in the England Women’s U19 set-up and were part of the U23 squad that won the Nordic Tournament in May.
Marley said: “These matches are hugely important to the World Cup qualifying campaign and we will be looking to get two good results, and finish 2017 in strong fashion.
“I know Keira and Leah well from the U19s set up and they are both talented young players with lots of potential and playing well for their clubs, and I am pleased to welcome them into the senior squad.
“We are looking forward to ending the year with two home games. We are expecting good crowds at both matches and will be going out to put on two excellent performances for our supporters.”
They are rejoined in the squad by fit-again City goalkeeper Karen Bardsley who returned from a broken leg sustained in a collision with her City and England captain Steph Houghton during the Women’s European Championship this summer.
