Fabian Delph will miss out on England duty again after withdrawing from Gareth Southgate’s squad today along with fellow Manchester City player Raheem Sterling.
Both played in the 3-1 win over Arsenal but Sterling will miss out on friendly games against Germany and Brazil with a back injury while Delph ended City’s game limping after appearing to pick up a late injury.
City manager Pep Guardiola didn’t have an update on the situation, only saying that the club doctor hadn’t seem him yet.
“I didn’t ask, they were too busy singing and dancing. The doctor didn’t come to me so hopefully he’s ok.” said Guardiola of Delph after the game.
England were already without Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who missed their 4-1 victory over West Ham with a thigh injury.
Spurs trio Harry Kane (knee), Dele Alli (hamstring) and Harry Winks (ankle) had also pulled out of England duty.
Southgate has so far called up Everton’s Michael Keane after he recovered from a foot infection while Chelsea’s Gary Cahill joined the squad after being assessed by Chelsea’s medical team and West Brom’s Jake Livermore was drafted in after the Spurs players pulled out.
England will play Germany on Friday, November 10, and will play Brazil on November 14 with both games to be played at Wembley.
UPDATE: Uncapped Burnley midfielder Jack Cork, 28, has been added the squad after playing every minute of Burnley’s Premier League campaign so far.
