Sergio Aguero was involved in a car crash in Holland on Thursday night and looks set to be on the sidelines for a period of time.
Aguero was in Amsterdam to attend a concert featuring Colombian singer Maluma on his day off and the taxi he was reportedly travelling in on the way back to the airport apparently lost control and hit a column after leaving the road.
Early reports suggested that Aguero had sustained a rib injury in the crash and City’s official website announced that Aguero would return to Manchester this morning to be checked ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash at Chelsea.

Aguero’s former club, Independiente, appeared to confirm the injury this morning with a tweet wishing the striker “strength and speedy recovery. All Independiente is with you at this difficult time.”

The Argentine striker had been in good goalscoring form for City, scoring seven goals in eight appearances this season, but missed a penalty against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night which would have brought him level with Eric Brook as the club’s all-time record goalscorer.
If Aguero’s injury is as serious as reports are suggesting then he could be out for two months which would rule him out of Argentina’s final two World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Ecuador and several crucial Champions League and Premier League games.
Losing Aguero for that long is the last thing City boss Pep Guardiola will have wanted, with the news coming the day after the club confirmed that left-back Benjamin Mendy would be missing for an extended period after rupturing his right anterior cruciate ligament.
Guardiola may have an update this afternoon but Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva will be in contention to replace Aguero upfront tomorrow at Stamford Bridge if the City legend will be missing for any length of time.
