Scottish international Jen Beattie has put pen to paper on a new two year deal with Manchester City Women and becomes the latest player to extend her contract with the club.
She follows Megan Campbell, Karen Bardsley, and Steph Houghton in signing a new deal with the club.
Beattie, 26, has missed Scotland’s 2017 European Championships campaign this summer after sustaining an ankle injury following an important role in the City squad that won all three domestic trophies last season.
City currently hold the 2016 FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup trophy, became the 2016 Women’s Super League champions and won the SSE Women’s FA Cup for the first time in the Club’s history last term.
Beattie helped Melbourne City become W-League champions in their debut season in 2015 after becoming the first female City player to go on loan at the sister club, playing alongside fellow Scotland international Kim Little and Wales midfielder Jess Fishlock.
Speaking about her contract extension, Beattie, said: “The past two years have been unforgettable and I couldn’t be happier that I’m extending my contract with Manchester City Women.
“When I first joined the club in 2015, I said I wanted to win trophies with them and it’s amazing how much we have accomplished as a team since then.
“Everyone on the squad always wants to find a way to improve their game and the support we receive from across the club, both the staff and our fans, is incredible. I now can’t wait for next season to begin.”
Nick Cushing, Head Coach of Manchester City Women, added:
“Jen is a top player who really cares about the game. She wants to play and to win, and she knows that takes hard work and dedication.
“We are absolutely delighted to have her at Manchester City for another two years.”
