Manchester City Women continued their squad building for the forthcoming 2017/18 season with the signing of Scotland forward Claire Emslie from Bristol City Women.
Emslie, 23, had spent the last year in Bristol after returning from a spell in college in the US with Florida Atlantic Owls during which she made her senior debut for Scotland in an international friendly against Iceland.
The young winger will join City on July 1, and will seek to help the club retain all three domestic titles after a hugely successful 2016 season.
Emslie scored 12 goals in just 10 games last season as she helped Bristol City Women win promotion from WSL2.
She also scored against the Blues in their SSE FA Cup clash with City in March this year in a move which levelled the game for Bristol before City went on to win the tie and lift the trophy in May.
Commenting on her new contract with Manchester City, Emslie said:
“Becoming a Manchester City player is an amazing opportunity for me.
“I was blown away by the facilities when I first visited the City Football Academy and I’m looking forward to taking advantage of them to help me grow as a player.
“The chance to compete in the Champions League is another exciting new prospect for me and I can’t wait to begin playing with rest of the squad and to meet the fans.”
Nick Cushing, Head Coach of Manchester City Women, added:
“Claire is a talented young player with the ability to achieve a lot on the pitch and I am confident she will be a fantastic addition to the squad when we kick off the 2017/18 season.
“She’s determined to improve her game and at Manchester City we want to help develop young players like Claire so they can reach their full potential.”
