A football crazy youngster will enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of being a mascot at Wayne Rooney’s testimonial thanks to a special online charity auction.
The highest bidder will earn a child aged between seven and 14 the chance to walk out onto the Old Trafford pitch with the Manchester United star on Wednesday, August 3 – marking the striker’s 12 years of service for the Red Devils.
The winner will also claim two tickets for the game and a signed Rooney shirt, all thanks to the Wayne Rooney Foundation.
The auction – hosted by fundraising platform Givergy – is being backed by the NSPCC Bristol Business Board, and all money raised will go to the charity, which the England captain supports as an Ambassador for Childhood.
Bidding is now live and will close at 11pm on Saturday, July 23. Visit www.givergy.com/listing/nspcc/mascot-at-wayne-rooneys-testimonial-match

“The devoted dad, and England and Manchester United captain, has agreed to become the NSPCC’s first ever Ambassador for Childhood and it is wonderful that the Wayne Rooney Foundation have supported us by providing this fantastic prize for our online auction.
“It will be an incredible football experience for one lucky youngster, and I’m sure it will inspire lots of wonderful bids.”
Jon Douglas, Founder of Givergy, added: “We know this is going to be really popular auction with young Manchester United and Rooney fans across the UK.
“We’re also proud to be helping the NSPCC raise vital funds through our online consumer platform and being able to auction incredible prizes like this is what brings us to work every day at Givergy with a smile on our faces.”
