Manchester City face their biggest hurdle in the FA Cup so far this season when they travel down to London to face Chelsea after thrashing Aston Villa 4-0 at Villa Park this weekend.
It represents a third away trip in a row for City, who also beat Norwich City 3-0 in the Third Round earlier this month.
City are still chasing an unprecedented quadruple but will now have a very tough set of fixtures in February, with trips to Sunderland and Chelsea in between visits by Leicester City and Tottenham and a Champions League Round of 16 double header against Dynamo Kiev before they travel to Wembley to face Liverpool in the Capital One Cup.
Chelsea are unbeaten under interim boss Guus Hiddink since he took charge of first team affairs at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
The draw was made on the same day that news broke that Chelsea captain John Terry was leaving the club in the summer.
Their long serving captain, who was once on City’s radar for a possible transfer, will be looking to end a difficult season at Stamford Bridge with some important silverware.
In contrast, Manchester United’s reward for overcoming Derby County 3-1 on Friday is a trip to Shrewsbury Town – the lowest ranked side still in the competition.
The Shrews have never faced United before in a competitive game and is a fitting reward for them after they threw caution to the wind in beating Championship club Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 this weekend.
The Reds beat Sheffield United 1-0 in the Third Round earlier this month.
United were under pressure going into the game but the FA Cup seems to have provided under-pressure Louis Van Gaal’s side a helpful diversion from their recent travails in the Premier League.
