Sergio Aguero confirms that hamstring injury will keep him out for a month and he will miss the Manchester derby and two Champions League games against Sevilla
Sergio Aguero has confirmed that he will be out for around a month following a hamstring injury sustained in the first half of Argentina’s 2-0 defeat at home to Ecuador.
Speaking to TyCSports in Argentina the Manchester City striker confirmed he would be out for a month with a tear in his left hamstring after a scan had been performed.
Aguero said: “To heal the tear will probably take a month.”
He could miss up to seven games before the next international break including games against Bournemouth, Manchester United, Crystal Palace in the Capital One Cup, Norwich City, and Aston Villa plus a Champions League double header against Sevilla.
Aguero had joined the national team squad carrying an injury which was treated at half time during City’s 6-1 win over Newcastle United and which saw him substituted in the second half before he could add to his tally of five goals.
Aguero has been ruled out of Argentina’s next qualifier on Tuesday against Paraguay and will also be a doubt for Argentina’s next qualifiers against Brazil and Colombia in November.
In a second blow for Manchester City, David Silva was also taken off in Spain’s first half last night against Luxembourg.
He limped off after suffering an ankle injury following a tackle by Lars Krogh Gerson less than ten minutes after the game had started.
After signalling that he couldn’t continue, Silva was replaced by Manchester United’s Juan Mata and Spain secured their place in Euro 2016 with a 4-0 win at home.
It’s thought that Silva’s injury is a sprain but City boss Manuel Pellegrini will doubtless be praying that Kevin De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany return from Belgium’s international commitments fit and well.
