Di Maria is believed to have signed a four year deal for the French champions and leaves United after just a year.
The Argentine international moved from Real Madrid on August 26 2014, weeks after a man-of the-match performance for Real as they won the Champions League, for a British record fee of £59.7m.
He scored a total of four goals in 32 appearances (24 starts and eight substitute appearances from the bench) for the Reds but suffered injuries and a loss of form towards the end of the campaign.
His United career had got off to a sparkling start with three goals in his first five games and he was being tipped for greatness following his early season form.
Di Maria was never handled a settled role in the team, however, playing in a variety of positions across midfield, up front, and even as a wing-back as United manager Louis Van Gaal coped with squad injuries and tinkered with his tactics.
His fourth and final United goal came on January 4 in a 2-0 victory at Yeovil in the FA Cup.
Di Maria’s home was burgled in January this year just hours after United’s 3-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on January 31.
Di Maria and his family later moved into a city centre apartment but the Argentine’s form was never quite the same and he ended the season on the bench as Van Gaal hit upon a winning formation which unfortunately excluded him late in the season.
