Michael Carrick has extended his current deal at Manchester United for a further year which keeps him at Old Trafford until at least June 2016.
Midfield man Carrick, 33, made his debut for United in August 2006. In that time he has made 376 appearances, scoring 23 goals. He has won five Premier League titles, one League Cup, one Champions League and a Club World Cup.
Louis van Gaal said: “I am delighted that Michael has extended his contract. Michael is a great reader of the game and his exceptional versatility has enabled me to play him in different positions on the pitch.
“He is my vice-captain and I have been impressed by his professionalism both on and off the pitch. He is a great inspiration for any young player”
Michael Carrick added: “It’s fantastic to know that I can continue my incredible journey with this great club. I am thoroughly enjoying my football and the team are progressing in the right direction under Louis van Gaal.
