NOTTS COUNTY 0, OLDHAM ATHLETIC 0
Oldham Athletic kept a fourth clean sheet in five games as they picked up another useful away point in Sky Bet League One.
The draw also extended Latics’ unbeaten run to six matches in league and cup as the new-look team is starting to gel.
Indeed, Latics had the better of play and could count themselves unfortunate not to have won at Meadow Lane.
Manager Lee Johnson made two changes from the midweek draw at Notts County as top scorer Jonathan Forte returned after injury while there was a first start for on-loan striker Conor Wilkinson. James Dayton and Danny Philliskirk were the two players to make way.
Dominic Poleon and Forte had early chances for Latics who also had a goal from George Elokobi chalked out after the referee spotted a foul.
It was a similar story in the second half with Latics enjoying the better of the play as Wulkinson pulled a shot wide while they also had two shouts for penalties turned down.
Mike Jones appeared to be bundled off the ball while Forte also went down following a mistimed challenge, but neither was given.
The introduction of Philliskirk and Amari Morgan-Smith with 15 minutes left made a difference as the front pair began to find holes in the home defence.
And in stoppage time, Wilkinson almost conjured a winner just as he nearly did at Swindon in midweek.
Once again he burst clean through only for former Manchester United keeper Roy Carroll to make a fine fingertip save just as Wes Fotheringham did for Swindon in midweek as it was so nearly three points instead of one.
