England manager Roy Hodgson will announce his squad for the World Cup on Monday May 12, a day after the conclusion of the Barclays Premier League season.
Spurs winger Andros Townsend will join Arsenal wide-man Theo Walcott on the sidelines after being ruled out for 10 weeks with an ankle ligament injury.
Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez was ruled out for six months after sustaining a cruciate injury against Manchester City at the Etihad on April 5.
Hodgson will name 23 players plus a standby squad of seven players and has already hinted that he knows the majority of his squad by stating that last-minute form from players will not sway his decision making.
England will face Peru in a friendly at Wembley on May 30 before the final squad is confirmed on June 2.
They will then fly out to Miami to play friendlies against Honduras on June 4 and Ecuador on June 7.
Their first game in the World Cup will be in the heat of Manaus against Italy on June 14.
