Yaya Toure has been named the CAF (Confederation of African Football) player of the year for the third time running.
The award was voted on by African national team head coaches or technical directors and Toure, 30, picked up his award in Lagos, Nigeria today.
Toure beat Ivorian team-mate Didier Drogba and Chelsea and Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel with a total of 373 votes against 236 and 265 respectively.
He now requires only one more win to equal the record held by Cameroon and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o.
Nigeria were named National team of the year.
