Former Manchester City striker Uwe Rosler has taken over at Wigan Athletic, it was announced this morning.
Wigan agreed a compensation package for the Brentford manager who leaves the Bees in fourth place in League One having won November’s manager of the month award.
Rosler still has a home in the north west and takes over on Sunday after the Millwall game today after Owen Coyle was dismissed following a run of poor form which has seen the Latics plummet down the Championship to 14th and in serious danger of exiting the UEFA Cup.
The Latics require a win against NK Maribor on December 12 and for other results to go their way to qualify for the knockout stage of the UEFA Cup.
Wigan Chairman Dave Whelan said: “Uwe is one of the brightest young managers in the Football League and his ambition is to manage in the Premier League.”
