Manchester United beat Stoke City 2-0 at a wild and windy Britannia Stadium to book a place in the Semi Final of the Capital One Cup, joining Manchester City in the semi finals leaving the mouth-watering possibility of an all Manchester final with both managers looking for the first serious silverware of their Manchester club tenures.
Ashley Young and Patrice Evra scored the goals that put Stoke out despite conditions so wild that the referee had to suspend play for around ten minutes during the first half. United manager David Moyes had announced before the game that Wayne Rooney could miss some of United’s festive fixtures due to injury.
Manchester City eased their way into the semi-finals with a 3-1 away win at Leicester City yesterday.
