City defender and captain Vincent Kompany will be assessed tomorrow and might feature in the game at West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini said: “Tomorrow we will see. He has been training normally for the last three days.”
The impending return of City’s captain and best defender will be a relief for Pellegrini who has two away games against West Bromwich Albion and Southampton in the coming week and has lost defender Matija Nastasic for a number of weeks following an injury against Spurs last week.
Although City made it seven wins out of seven in the league at home against Swansea today Pellegrini has identified away wins this week as crucial to their bid to catch Arsenal up at the top of the Barclays Premier League this year.
Pellegrini also knocked back rumours of a forthcoming bid for Sergio Aguero by Real Madrid in January.
He said: “I don’t know anything about that. I don’t think that Sergio wants to leave.”
