Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini could be forced into the January transfer market after further injury blows threatened to derail their bid for trophies this season.
Pellegrini confirmed that Sergio Aguero could be out of action for up to eight weeks after a new prognosis of the in-form striker’s calf injury.
City will see tomorrow just how bad Pablo Zabaleta’s hamstring injury will be but he could be out as long as Micah Richards who went off with a similar problem against Bayern Munich last week and may himself be out for a month.
With injury niggles hitting Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Gael Clichy, Matija Nastasic, Jack Rodwell, and Stevan Jovetic of late most of them are back in training but City could go into December games against Fulham, Liverpool and Crystal Palace without a recognised right back and one of the best strikers in the Barclays Premier League.
The next two weeks will clearly be a test of City’s squad strength with a total of five games in that time.
