Manchester City’s Joe Hart has retained his place in Roy Hodgson’s latest England squad to play friendlies against Chile and Germany later this month.
The England goalkeeper, rested by City manager Manuel Pellegrini for games against Norwich City and CSKA Moscow, is expected to be rested for games that might see Fraser Forster and John Ruddy get valuable game time and a chance to prove their credentials to earn a ticket to the World Cup in Rio next year.
Hart was joined in the squad by his City team mate James Milner. United players Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck were also included.
There were also call-ups for Southampton players Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez as Hodgson looks into alternative selections for England’s World Cup squad.
