Gareth Barry has joined Everton on a season long loan.
The England midfielder was entering the last year of his five-year Manchester City contract and with the World Cup in Brazil next summer has moved in search of first-team football and is unlikely to return to the Etihad.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini had earlier admitted that Barry would be free to leave after signing Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk.
In other transfer day dealings, striker Harry Bunn joined Sheffield United on loan for a year and midfielder Abdul Razak joined Russian side Anzi Makhachkala on loan for the remainder of the season.
Defender Martin Demichelis was signed prior to deadline day to ease an injury crisis at City while midfielder Albert Rusnak was allowed to join Oldham Athletic on loan until January 5.
