Rio Ferdinand has used Twitter to pledge his support to England despite being continually overlooked during an injury crisis by England manager Roy Hodgson.
Ferdinand said “Just so we don’t get it twisted here….I’ll be in a pub somewhere supporting England this summer! Love the lads!” on Twitter after it was reported that he had gone away on a second holiday.
His representative Jamie Moralee had earlier stirred up a controversy by claiming that Hodgson had shown a “lack of respect” in omitting the experienced Manchester United man in favour of Liverpool’s Martin Kelly despite a late injury ruling out Chelsea’s Gary Cahill leaving England perilously short of experienced backup in central defence.
