The FA have revealed that they will be appealing against Wayne Rooney’s 3 match ban for England which would put him out of all of England’s group games at Euro 2012 next year.
They now have 6 days to put together a case to UEFA.
Rooney’s case has been supported with a written statement by Miodrag Dzudovic, the player he kicked out at during the Montenegro match in which he was sent off.
The move is not without risk, however, as UEFA may decide to extend the ban if they decide to challenge the appeal, at which point the FA might have to withdraw the appeal in case Rooney was hit with a further one game ban.
